Mornin'. . .

Mornin' Mr. Radio Mornin' Mr. Cheerios Mornin' Sister Oriole Did I tell you everything is fine In my mind When you get up in the morning to get ready for work (or evening, you could be working a night shift), do you have a routine that you follow?  Do you find ways to get yourself prepared for the day ahead?  I find myself having to play some music to set the tone for the day.  This song is the perfect song to get you in a 'feel-good' mood and keep you ticking along until you have to leave the house.  I'm a huge believer of practising positive thoughts and being happy in every moment.  It's a tough thing to be able to do.  But the best way to show the world that everything is fine - is just to smile. Morning' Mr. Shoe Shine Man Shine em bright in white and tan My baby she loves me and Need I tell you that Everything here is just fine In my mind Of course, if you can't naturally conjure up a smile from within, maybe the fact that you are i...

Little lies. . .

If I could turn the page In time then I'd rearrange  Just a day or two Close my, close my, close my eyes Are there any days in your life that you would like to do over?  When you finally find the strength to move on from difficult situations and scenarios, do you?  There might be people who try to support you in doing that, but others might just be more interested in making sure that you stay in that state of funk and not want to emerge from it all.  What pages would you like to turn?  You probably don't have the power or agency to turn those pages, so what do you need to do to take control of the pages back?  People can force you to read. but don't you want the power to write on those pages? But I couldn't find a way So I'll settle for one day To believe in you Tell me, tell me, tell me Do you feel disappointed when you try to find copious ways or give countless chances to someone who constantly lies to you, to finally believe in them?  If...

Before the dawn. . .

Thought I saw you smile, underneath you were frowning Thought I saw you wave, but you must have been drowning When do you know how someone is really feeling, actually feeling about themselves and life in general?  Sometimes people spend time hiding their true feelings because they don't think others around them know how to "be" with them in that sense.  We are trusting the wrong people, aren't we?  Or are we trying to figure out how to trust people by testing their reactions to whatever you tell them? You would like to think that your friends and close ones are able to disclose their feelings about anything and everything that they feel they need to share.  If you are a really good observer or listener - you should be able to see past what you are initially presented with.  Maybe people are waiting for you to take notice. What's a rose without a thorn? What is calm without a storm? I can't say I know what you're going through I know you won't f...

Bitter end. . .

I've been up where only stars have been I've seen places no light can get in If I had to do it all again I know that I wouldn't change a thing Ain't no better life than a life that's lived, mm-hm Through all of the challenges, obstacles, and trauma that I've endured in life - I would not change a single thing that happened.  I'm not saying I'm a sucker for punishment, but I needed to go through the necessary pain in order to learn how to appreciate the good times through the bad.  Have you been at the highest heights and thought about what you need to do to stay there?  Granted some of the things that you face, are not of your own design, but once you recognise that you are in that funky state - you have to figure out how you will navigate your way through the system.  You know, figuring out ways to be at your best.  Knowing for sure how to go about things that speak to your intent.  Would you prefer to live a perfect life with no errors or know th...

Just as sure. . .

Just as sure as the sun Sets at the end of the day Then the darkness fades And the clouds they roll away Just as sure as the hands On the clock keep ticking away the time And trouble on my mind Makes it hard for joy to find Someone told me that I didn't really love Loma.  They questioned whether I really did love him.  What people need to know about Loma is that he was really good at making people feel special and feel welcome, feel at home.  Whenever I was with him, I took it for granted that he would always be there for me, that wherever he was, he was home for me.  It will be 7 years this year since he died and time doesn't make the absence easier to handle.  It does make me think about ways to keep his memory alive in the things that I do, in the hyphenated surname that I bear, in the people that I see on a daily basis, and especially for those who knew him best.  I miss being around those people who loved him as fiercely as he loved.  Sin...

Never alone. . .

In my time I've travelled some roads A rolling stone Nowhere feels like home And I've seen people come, then they go Life is just a story of some highs and some lows You've probably laid your hat in so many places because you could never truly be at home.  The home that you had tried to build was taken away from you and you didn't know how to deal with that when things started to change faster than you were used to.  So you learned to adapt to change really quick as it was the only constant thing in your life.  You learned to not feel so deeply about your situation so you found other means to keep you sane and to hold onto a semblance of sanity when you were surrounded by chaos.  How many lives have you touched and left in the blink of an eye?  Tell me do you believe in miracles? I'm standing here before your eyes The thing about miracles is that you don't really believe in them unless they have been performed in your life when you need to believe the...

Picking up the pieces . . .

Do you think of her? When you're with me? Repeat the memories you made together Whose face do you see? Do you wish I was a bit more like her? Am I too loud? I play the clown to cover up all these doubts For whatever reason, you develop connections or act on connections that seem effortless.  There is a natural affinity that occurs that you can't explain, but also can't deny that exists.  So you set about making sure that you cultivate this and try to honour the space that it inhabits as well.  You might even be told stories, constant stories, even stories that you don't ask for because you are trying to be supportive and really listen.  But why do people feel the need to tell you things you don't want to know?  Maybe you're not good at speaking up.  Maybe you think about things so differently and just because it is different, it requires more work and time to unpack.  Stop asking yourself questions to produce self-doubt.  You are more than ...
