To be loved. . .

I built a house for love to grow I was so young that it was hard to know I'm as lost now as I was back then Always make a mess of everything It's about time that I face myself All I do is bleed into someone else Painting walls with all my secret tears Filling rooms with all my hopes and fears The first time I heard this song, I was mesmerised. I've been sitting on this blogpost for a while and didn't know how to approach this particular piece. How could a song capture feelings that I haven't felt that I could confront for myself? The power of music, when lyrics can transport you to places that you don't want to go, but need to be; that's when you know you are where you are meant to be. What do you know when you're young when you think you're building a place for love to grow - but you lose sight of that growth? Maybe we are constantly meant to make a mess of everything, because isn't mess all relative anyway? Be careful of the places where you bl...

Fighting for me. . .

I need the kinda love that outlast the night I need the kinda love that is willing to fight   When the going gets tough And my strength's not enough I see You showing up like never before This battle for my heart You are the peace when my mind's at war And oh Why do we seek love in the wrong places? We come to realisations that we make mistakes. We are not as strong as we think we are. But why would anyone really know? I cannot remember the countless times that I was lead to believe that things were, but never really were. Who is battling for your heart right now? There might be someone who is trying to lay claim to it. There might be someone who is trying to discourage you from seeking the love you deserve in your life. Who shows up for you when you least expect it?  You will never stop fighting for me When I can't fight for myself Every word is a promise You keep 'Cause You love me like nobody else You stand up for me in the darkest night When my faith is weak Yo...

Old habits die hard. . .

I thought I shook myself free You xee I bounce back quicker than most But I'm half delirious, is too mysterious You walk through my walls like a ghost And I take every day at a time I'm as proud as a Lion in his lair Now there's no denying it, a note to crying it You're all tangled up in my head How is your level of resilience? When you come up against something, do you bounce back quicker than most? Unless you go through trauma, for some, sadly there are multiple incidents of trauma, that once connected in a timeline shows a recipe for reverting to old habits. Do you have any old habits that you're trying to break? How are you able to get your head recalibrated again? Who is going to help you to do that? We won't know how to do this recalibration until we figure out ways to replace those old habits with new habits.  Old habits die hard Old soldiers just fade away Old habits die hard Harder than November rain Old habits die hard  Old soldiers just fade away  Old...

It ain't yours to throw away. . .

That same road that brought you here Will sure as hell take you home The life you left behind will have you back You're tired of paying dues in worn out shoes And Broadway blues And any fool will tell you The damn ol' deck is stacked Do you want to return to the life that you once had? It is always easy to reminisce about the good times, the great times in fact, that may be treasured moments in your heart. You wonder sometimes whether the road that you travel on will take you places where you meet good people with good hearts, but more importantly, with good ears. When will we get to a point where we have finished paying our dues? How much longer do you have to be patient before your chance comes around? When will the odds ever be in your favour? What if you're just a vessel And God gave you something special If you are a vessel, do you know what you carry? What are we doing to pour the best of ourselves out to others so that they can go and spread good energy (not spread t...

Yes I do. . .

Do you know what's going on? Take me by the hand saying "Yes I do" Hear me out, I'll sing a song Can you be the one singing "Yes I do" At the best of times, we probably never really know what's going on.  Are you able to live your life with such conviction? How sure are you of where you are in this present time, and where do you think you are heading? We need to start being more mindful of who sings out to us, who is calling us to take on roles and responsibilities that although we don't necessarily sign up for, we can see for sure there are ways of moving forward that require us to be sure, to be sure-footed, even when we aren't truly sure indeed. Oh I need you next to me Holding onto love, making dreams come true Can you feel my energy? Baby wear me like a glove 'cause I need you Do you hold onto love? We need to recognise what real love is before we can even latch onto it, before we can start to see the value of holding onto it once it arr...

Almost doesn't count. . .

Almost made you love me Almost made you cry Almost made you happy babe Didn't I? Didn't I? You almost had me thinking You were turned around But everybody knows Almost doesn't count How do you know when you come close to something that never was? You never really know until it happens to you. Those near misses and close encounters will only ever be that - always missing the mark. We can quickly get into some personal strife if we believe that we are able to provide happiness for someone else. Things don't work out that way. You can try your best to be supportive and make their lives as easy as possible, but the happiness is something that can only come from within themselves. If you are trying to evolve, grow and change, convincing people that you have turned from your old ways - is that a good enough reason to move? Almost heard you saying You were finally free What was always missing for you babe You found it in me But you can't get to heaven Half off the ground E...

The real in you. . .

I know I'm no different Problems on my mind I'll be here to listen Watch out for the signs You just keep on pushin' You know we sell  pride Three nights now you'll break down Running through red lights Maintaining a connection is important. Particularly when it is very rare for you to find people that connect with you on levels that are genuine, authentic and have the power to help you make sense of things that can consume you. Being able to share parallel experiences may not be easily revealed until more pennies drop, alongside all the other things that drop, like tears, rain and sun, if you know where to look. There will be varying levels of friends who connect with you in so many ways. Remember the ones who add to your energy rather than extract it. I can't tell you how to live your life here What is on your mind lady? Do you have the time for me? Am I a friend with honesty? Sometimes when you share things with someone, they might feel it gives them license to cr...
