Arithmetic. . . .

Song blogpost requested by Tee Cee Toomata :-) I've been staring at the sky tonight Marveling and passing time Wondering what to do with daylight Until I can make you mine You are the one I want, you are the one I want I haven't had much of a chance to stare up at the sky lately.  But tonight I did catch the shepherd's delight with the beautiful clouds and its coconut marshmallow icecream hues.  At the worst of times, I feel like I am passing time, waiting for the next stage of my life to begin.  My daylight hours are filled with the demands of daily life that are not my own, but those of others.  The life of service is a tough one, especially when you do these things alone with little time for your own wellbeing, to nurture yourself and ensure that you can connect with people who care about you too.  People who take time out of their own day to touch base and ask how you are.  Who is the one you want? I've been thinking of changing my mind It ne...

You're as right as rain. . .

You're as right as rain Mellow as a shower on a summer's day You're as right as rain Softer than a flower, sweet as marmalade You're made that way Why do people insist on seeing your softness when you're trying to be tough? I guess people see it as some kind of challenge where they want to pull you apart so that they can see what makes you tick.  You might have lost count the number of times that people have put you through the wringer hoping to bring you to your knees and try to break you.  There is something tender and beautiful about being able to be mellow, be refreshing in some sense, where you are a welcome addition to anybody's any given day.  Has anybody seen you made that way? Who has been lucky enough to get close to you?  You should never allow your vulnerability to shine through unless you're deliberately trying to build your resilience or your intentions are to put others before yourself. Every man has a secret dream Quiet thoughts tra...

Out here on my own. . .

Sometimes I wonder where I've been Who I am Do I fit in Make believin' is hard alone Out here on my own When you find it hard to figure out who you are and where you fit in, the likely cause is that you probably don't know who you are because you're busy being all things to all people, and then this is further compounded by you not knowing how to fit in.  Where have you been in your own life?  Consider how much you have grown over the past five years.  Depending on how old you are, how you measure this growth is something that connects solely to you.  We get seduced by this idea of success and what society says it looks like.  Why should we believe any of it?  Why should those markers be what sets our standards?  Maybe being alone is exactly what you need to do to gain clarity. We're always provin' who we are Always reachin' for that risin' star To guide me far And shine me home Out here on my own The more you succeed, you can often find y...
