You're as right as rain. . .

You're as right as rain
Mellow as a shower on a summer's day
You're as right as rain
Softer than a flower, sweet as marmalade
You're made that way

Why do people insist on seeing your softness when you're trying to be tough?
I guess people see it as some kind of challenge where they want to pull you apart so that they can see what makes you tick.  You might have lost count the number of times that people have put you through the wringer hoping to bring you to your knees and try to break you.  There is something tender and beautiful about being able to be mellow, be refreshing in some sense, where you are a welcome addition to anybody's any given day.  Has anybody seen you made that way? Who has been lucky enough to get close to you?  You should never allow your vulnerability to shine through unless you're deliberately trying to build your resilience or your intentions are to put others before yourself.

Every man has a secret dream
Quiet thoughts trap his inner need
To open and tell someone
Of the things he's hiding from
Sometimes it's a childish game
We play but I don't feel that way

What secret dream do you have?  I always seem to uncover the secret dreams of people who don't even realise that they're summoning me to share it.  In the process, there might be misunderstandings about what transpires when we are trying to make sense of the world.  Instead situations change and we are forced to try and learn the new rules of the game, who is teaching these rules and develop a strategy to learn how to be successful in this game.  But after a while, you snap out of the childish games and no longer want to play in games that serve no real purpose in your destiny, but in fact, those games distract you and detract from your mission. There's no more time for you to sacrifice your energy, time and purpose to serve someone else who doesn't work for their own.

As a boy I learned how to hide
All too well how to keep inside
The way I felt about a girl
How to keep her in my world
Strange how love can change your head
You made me see I've been misled

I don't know about you, but too many people throw love around like it's going out of fashion. People do things to try and keep you in their lives.  They rely on their cunning and guile to keep you in their lives.  You never really understand it, or maybe you're just deluding yourself by not recognising things for how they truly are - so you have to step back and think, no, I don't want to be kept in your world if it means it compromises my own.  You might be sick of the constant testing and the unnecessary dramas that people seem intent on laying at your doorstep.  If you are finding that love is changing your head, go sit down and close your eyes.  Focus and meditate.  Learn to listen to your own breathing and value yourself and what you need to do.  Pretty soon you will no longer be misled.

'Cause you're right as rain
Mellow as a shower on a summer's day
You're as right as rain

Try and be true to yourself.  Sometimes you second guess yourself because it's easier said than done.  You never really know whether what everyone is doing is going to be in your best interests.  I try to remember so many different golden moments with people I can no longer be with.  You start to think about those memories that slowly fade from your mind unless you visit those little rooms in your head, remembering how people made you feel and when life seemed simpler.  Are you somebody's mellow shower on a summer's day?  I guess we'll never know unless they're brave enough to be completely honest with you and learn how to truly appreciate you.  But as long as you know, that no matter what happens, no matter where you are, you're as right as rain. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
