Misguided ghosts. . .

I'm going away for a while
But I'll be back, don't try and follow me
'Cause I'll return as soon as possible
See, I'm trying to find my place
But it might not be here where I feel safe
We all learn to make mistakes

Sometimes you need to take a step back, take some time out of your business as usual to focus on yourself for a change. Sometimes you feel like you need to get away for a while and figure out what to do with yourself. Would you return as soon as possible? The places where you thought were safe, are no longer the case. Mistakes that you have made in your life may follow you all your life, or you can just view them as missed takes, or my stakes, because at the end of the day, the actions you took, the words you said, the feelings you shared, they are all yours and yours alone. How you process them all is completely up to you.  Where do you belong? Are you trying to find a place where you belong?

And run from them, run from them
With no direction
And run from them, run from them
With no conviction

Who are you running from? I guess just as long as you are able to escape, able to run away from your oppressors, that's the main thing right? Sometimes when we feel that we are running from people, we might actually be running from ourselves. What are we not willing to confront? Once you are able to resolve issues and think about what your priorities should be, then there are greater chances and opportunities for success to take hold, for real deep and meaningful growth to occur.  But I guess indecision can creep in when we are not able to see our own true value, our own true worth.

'Cause I'm just one of those ghosts
Traveling endlessly
Don't need no roads
In fact, they follow me
And we just go in circles

Sometimes you can easily feel like a ghost. People start to forget that you're there, forget that you were once an instrumental part of their life. Are you the kind of ghost that aimlessly waits for recognition or validation of your worth? Whatever struggles we face in life, we might start to think that all of the problems are starting to park themselves at your doorstep. If you have a natural affinity for attracting people with broken energy or those who reach out to you without knowing why, maybe they're a lot more like you than you think.

Well, now I'm told that this is life
And pain is just a simple compromise
So we can get what we want out of it
Would someone care to classify
Our broken hearts and twisted minds
So I can find someone to rely on

How much of the pain will you absorb? Since COVID-19 people have started talking a lot more about having resilience and being more responsive to our collective human condition - now so more than ever before. We can get trapped in the mindless oblivion that comes with victim mentality, not realising that we are all victims, if not of our own design, then our own follies have lead us there. Step through your connections and see which ones are worth holding onto, which ones you need to relinquish and which ones are curious and demand more of your attention. We never know what sparks there are in situations we never really considered.

And run to them, to them
Full speed ahead
Oh, you are not useless
We are just

Do you know who you're running to? We might never realise who we are running to until we arrive - wherever that may be/ Most of the time we ruin perfectly good moments in the present, because we confuse ourselves with concern for a future that nobody should have any business knowing. I think the most times you can go full speed ahead confidently is when you are forced to look carefully at yourself and your actions, your words, your interactions with others, and try to see whether your intent translates well into what you actually say, what you actually do. People need to get themselves out of that funk - thinking that they are useless.

Misguided ghosts
Traveling endlessly
The ones we trusted the most
Pushed us far away
And there's no one road
And we should not be the same
But I'm just a ghost
And still they echo me
They echo me in circles

Pretty soon you start to lose count of how many times you have been disappointed by people or situations. Instead you shift your focus to what you can actively do for yourself to bring small moments of joy, to bring about the change that you want to be able to see in your own world. If I had a dollar for every time I pushed people away, or have been pushed away by others, I could happily retire. What echoes through time continually follow you? Do we keep moving in cycles until we get things right or do we just keep travelling and now worry so much about where we end up? I mean, we are, after all, only misguided ghosts. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
