Sailing. . .

It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
Oh the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

I first blogged about this song when my sister in law passed away in Samoa, At the time, it was a year after my own husband passed away and I was immediately thrust into another bereavement that was too close to home. Do you know how far you are to paradise? What conditions need to be in play in order for the wind to be right? We wait for the wind to change direction or to pick up our sails to carry us away. Where will you find tranquility? Can you control the direction in which the wind takes you? Do you have the skills to navigate and traverse the ocean you are in? Believing in yourself can be hard when you've been knocked back so many times. Sometimes it's hard to believe when others believe in you.

It's not too far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
Oh the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Do you visit your neverneverland at all? We spend so much time in a world that chews us up and spits us out if we allow that to happen. Why should we feel the need to pretend? Why do we continue to operate in spaces that lack genuine love, support and care? You might have lost your way and forgotten the simple things in life, the little miracles that remind you just how much we can rely on ourselves. to look within, meditate, reflect, back yourself and disregard who and what isn't meant for you. Finding the innocence of joy seems to be the only solution I can find for peace of mind as of late. I hate being on high alert all the time. It is not a way to live. What miracles are in store for you that you have no idea is on its way and meant for you? It's exciting, nerve wracking and also uncertain. Embrace it all and be patient.

Oh oh
Oh oh
Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Are you learning to sail in new waters? We never dare ourselves to dream about things that are not part of our current circumstance. We always think there are no alternatives, no probabilities, possibilities, suggestions or solutions that seem like a sure thing. Where could it be for you? It takes a lot of time and energy to critically self-reflect. When you arrive at conclusions about yourself, are you prepared to greet what you find there? I have lost count of how many dreams have come to pass. I wonder sometimes with recurring dreams - what messages need to remain and what message need to be let go.

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

Understandable that fantasy can take you away. Your eyes can glaze over once they hit the water. The shimmer of sunlight on the water while you're sailing can blind you at times and cause minor irritations, but enjoying the journey is important. Being able to move through water, even when you don't feel like you can, takes some energy to lift yourself. What words make up your symphony? When you lose faith or belief in yourself, it is easy to seek validation, assurance, reassurance and approval from those who seem to have it altogether. Sometimes sharing common experiences can be the very healing that you need.

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

I hope that you remember that it is important to get out on the water and start sailing. We tend to keep ourselves restricted from what experiences await us. We don't allow ourselves to experience really difficult situations because we think that we should spend our entire lives avoiding the inevitable, delaying the inevitable, never knowing how to face the inevitable. I hope that the canvas shows you the miracles that you are after with as much clarity as you need, with as much promise of a tomorrow that you never dreamed possible. Hope. It's all we have to hold onto sometimes. Just you wait and see. . . believe me. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
