Whose love is the greatest in your life? I have thought many times in my life that I have known different types of love at different points. There have been instances where I have mistaken love for something else, or more accurately, what I thought was love, turned out to be something else. You can never really tell if you can understand how great a love can be until it saves you from things that you never thought would happen. You cannot understand how great a love is until it throws you into spaces and places that you never imagined that you would find yourself. Whose mercy is the greatest in your life? Where have you come across mercy that has absolved you from all guilt? Whose grace has been the greatest in your life? Where have you experienced such goodwill that you felt others deigned you should never deserve?

You will only understand how great someone's love is when they love you beyond measure or compare to anybody else who has loved you. Who are those people in your life? They might not be here anymore, walking among us, able to reach out and touch us and hold us close anymore. They might be a higher being who understands how much love, mercy, grace you need to get through this difficult life we are in. But we should know whether we are capable of receiving such great love. Are we equipped to understand what it means to receive it? Will we know what to do when it comes? Who can we trust to cover us when we need to be covered? Where do you find your shelter and refuge? We can often make the mistake of relying on people who are not prepared to cover us at all, and if they do attempt to do so, it is never for as long as we need, but only as much as they are willing to provide.

What does it feel like to know a love that is great? Sometimes we don't have adequate words to be able to explain and reveal what it really is. I am sure that you can recall moments where you have felt the greatest love in your life. You might even disagree and say, well actually, no, I haven't had the greatest love yet. I thought I did, but I was mistaken. Maybe we put people and things on pedestals but do not really consider the genuine nature of how all of it truly is, until we lose that unconditional love. Sometimes we fail to see the greatest love has always been there because we are fooled by what we think is covering us. Have you ever been disappointed by things or people that left when they couldn't handle the heat? We should never lament the losses that we experience in our lives, as nothing ever truly remains. We must continue to endure and endeavor to push through glass ceilings that people continue to place over us. That's not the kind of cover that we need.

We seek validation, affirmation and self worth outside of ourselves. When we no longer believe in ourselves we look in all the wrong places and hope that one day we will be able to escape from what we have become. When will you be done punishing yourself for the things that you could never be able to hide anymore? You may search high and low for someone to love and care for you the way that you need to be loved and cared. You may never find them in the exact right moment that you want it all to happen, but you will soon see that we may not actually be able to find them, at the expense of realising the things that you need to do for yourself. When you shift your focus from the trappings that lead you to be dissuaded from your real priority, and you do this so often, then the blame will lay squarely at your own feet, don't blame others for staying in the funk for too long.

The shelter, refuge, and comfort that you seek, should ultimately lead towards learning to be self-sufficient and resilient to a point that you discover the best ways to move forward. When I have wanted His love more than anything, God has turned up. For so many times along the journey of my pathway, I have forgotten that He has been there for me, even when I think I have been alone. Those footprints in the sand that I constantly looked back to see, have always been one set. I mistook them for my own set of footprints because it was easier to play the victim and not see that I had the power to change what I wanted to be able to do. God has never failed me and on many occasions when I think I have succeeded, He has seen it fit to show me otherwise, to hold up a mirror that I have trained to use on myself, before holding it up in front of others. I will never hesitate anymore. Will you?

I hope that you are able to draw strength from inside yourself. There have been many times that you have learned how to be strong, not because you wanted to be, but because you had to be. There are moments where you have worked so hard to be strong, because there was nobody that had the strength to just be there while you fell apart. Do you know sweet and forgiving people in your life? I hope that you know how to help others when they need it the most. We no longer need to be mad when their support for you is not reciprocated. They are not as strong as you and were never meant to be, because that is why they found their way to you. We must never forget that when we are about to give up on something that is in our destiny to fulfil, we must dig even deeper and persevere. We all know that anything worth having will never be easy to come by. All I know is that just when I think it is time to pack it in and to give up on the dream, there continue to be signs that are sent to remind me of my divine purpose. That's when I raise my face to the heavens, with my arms outstretched and eyes closed and fully acknowledge, that Your love is great and always covering me. . .
