The root. . .

You can dig all day and never find the root
You gonna get dirty child looking for the truth
If you looking for an answer what's wrong with the truth
Keep digging child looking for the root

What are you digging for? We all strive for different goals and achievements in life. When we try to seek out the root of something, it usually is something that we cannot let go of or refuse to give up finding because it plagues on your mind, eats up hours of your time and becomes an obsession that you must pursue. When it comes to families, it might be secrets or stories that surface that you never realised existed. You try to search for answers and sometimes when you find those answers, they surface truth(s) that you may not yet be ready to hear. Do you have the perseverance and endurance to keep digging until you find the truth?

Look for love
It must be love
Look for love
It must be love

Searching for answers will become paramount when you are no longer satisfied with unanswered questions of blank walls. How does love motivate us to search for answers? Love might be the reason that you want to gain answers, to show that you love someone or love your family. Are you willing to show love for yourself while you are doing all this digging? Dedicating yourself to a mission that nobody is willing to accompany you on, is a lonely journey. We can never really time things well. Situations inevitably move beyond our control and our best laid plans evaporate when we least expect.

Come on now mhmmm
And we keep reaching
Reaching for the fruit
We keep digging, digging for the root

When we reach for the fruit, is it good fruit? Did we do enough digging to expose the root, to see if it was going to bear good fruit? Sometimes we expect to enjoy the fruit but have little to do with the care and nurture that it needs in order to grow. When you cast your eyes over your life, what have you done that has been fruitful? When will we know when we are done digging? The answers we might find may only lead to more questions, more confusion and more attempts to try and figure things out. Do you have people that can help you dig? It can hard enough to dig for the root on your own.

Look for love, It must be love
Look for love, It must be love
It must be love, Look for love
Ooooh ohhh yeah ooh yeah keep looking

When you do things in life, there is motivation that drives you to do them. For most people. their families are a huge motivator for pursuing goals that will either elevate them or just to care for them. This includes all of the friends and loved ones who have come to rely on you being able to continue to do things in this vein for so long. Accepting whether you continue to play a role in life, to conform and to ensure that you fit in, will either be a positive or negative for you. I guess this is why we keep looking for love, because why would we go through all the traumatic experiences that we have - without it?

We keep reaching, digging aaah ha, keep loving, loving, loving
Keep looking
Look for love, find your love
If you're looking for an answer, what's wrong with the truth
Keep digging child looking for the root

I hope that whatever you are reaching for, that you are able to reach for it with the right support when you need it. Gathering fruit for others may be your calling in life, helping others to reach for their own fruit. So how can we continue to be collaborative and care for others who may not realise they need that care the most? We can only arrive at answers that are meant to find us. Whether we can adapt and shift according to the challenges that come our way, only our instincts and habitual practices will carry us in good stead or lead us into certain disaster. But do not despair. The worst thing of all is if we stop digging. When the universe sees fit to reveal all you are seeking, just keep digging, keep digging for the root. . .

Closer. . .

I was cruising down the street with my head in the sky Going nowhere fast trying to stay high oh, oh Windows down my arms are waving Oh Lord I can't feel ma face no no, no no, aye, Sister please won't you sing for me Sing a song to set us free, free Brother please won't you sing for me Sing a song to set us free, free The original version of this song is upbeat. I prefer this acoustic version as it resonates more with me, something about it going deep down in my soul (or it could just be the piano accompaniment). We might think we are heading nowhere fast because we keep comparing ourselves to our peers, our contemporaries and the timeline that we set for ourselves to complete all of our dreams and goals. We forget that life happens and things outside of our control, start to take control - and this is where the real work begins within ourselves - whether we have the right support systems of brothers and sisters to sing us songs of freedom - what can we collectively do toge...

Have you ever seen the rain? . . .

Comin' down on a sunny day. . .  Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know it's been comin for some time When it's over so they say It'll rain a sunny day I know shinin' down like water Learning to be prepared for any given event is something that you should be able to do. I've recently discovered this amazing artist named Josh Tatofi.  I think the reason why I love his voice so much is because he sounds like my late husband.  The same smooth vocal line, the effortless way in which he dances along the melody line and does his own background harmonies reminds me so much of Loma's insistence on perfection when it came to singing, as much as he joked around about just singing for fun.  I love the arrangement of the song - it's fresh, easy going and laidback and it's something you can easily bob your head along to in the car or wherever you seem to be travelling to or from. I want to know Have you ever seen the rai...

God provides. . .

There's no more need to fight. . .  God provides, so why do I worry about my life When you come to my rescue a thousand times Every other voice it is a lie God provides It is easy to worry about your life.  It's what humans are built to do. We worry about so many things.  What people think of us.  How we act towards said people.  We worry about things that we cannot control, things we cannot hold.  We spend far too much time worrying about things that we shouldn't be worrying about.  When we think that nothing can come from anything, that's when God provides, above all else.  How many times have you been rescued?  Did you ask to be rescued?  Did you ask to be placed in those situations that required God to step in and save you?  Maybe yes.  Maybe no.  But one thing that I've come to know is that God has never lead me to a place that I couldn't get through, that I couldn't understand why I was lead there, that I di...
