That's the way of the world. . .

Dear brother - an open letter to a brother who needs to read this. . .

Hearts of fire creates love's desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire creates love's desire
High and higher to your place on the throne

Have you met someone whose heart sets yours aflame?  It's a pretty rare experience.  Whether the sparks fly instantaneously or it starts as a slow burn that builds to a larger fire, there is never a right place, nor a right pace for hearts of fire to ignite, or how quickly or slowly in terms of pace, it just happens.  The introduction of this song makes it easy to remember. I mean, it's one of those songs with a distinctive opening.  But mind you all of Earth Wind and Fire's music is like that, carefully crafted songs that fully utilise all of the instruments in the band.  Which world do you belong to?  Are you carried high and higher to where you can see everything?  It's still important to remember that you need to be wary about where your love's desire might take you.  There are no guarantees and nothing is certain.

We come together on this special day
Sing our message loud and clear
Looking back, we've touched on sorrowful days
Future pass, they disappear
You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don't hesitate 'cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart, 'cause you're never, never old

You would like to think that as you age, the love you shared with someone never does.  You should be able to transcend time and space, time and place and recall the times where if you did not exchange vows, then at least you made some kind of promises that would allow people to really see what kind of love you are capable of producing, capable of expressing, capable of valuing.  The world will often deal you cold moments that if you're not smart enough to realise, will seek to permeate your skin and have you second-guessing the pureness of heart that you have, the pureness of love that you naturally possess, that others want to abuse.  I'm not sure if it's because I'm attracting so many broken-hearted acquaintances who become heartfelt friends, but I am seeing their slow healing process - and it's both a beautiful and painful experience.

That's the way of the world
Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world makes his heart so cold

The only way that you can grow yourself, is if you are willing to sow seeds in others so that they too can grow like you.  It can never be said enough that when you start to recognise and truly value the beauty of yourself, in all of your imperfect perfection - surely then you should be able to see what God sees in us.  We often wonder why we ignore those who are downtrodden because we would never give them a second glance.  But we must remember that during the difficult and challenging times in our lives, that we must exercise gratitude at the grace that is shown to us - even when we don't deserve it.  Never let your golden heart lose its shine, its glimmering glow that entices people to want to touch it, possess it for themselves and want to be loved by it.
Hearts of fire creates love's desire take you
High and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire love desire
High and higher, yeah yeah yeah
Hearts of fire love desire
Ahh higher

I hope that we never get too scared to love again, to openly share our hearts of fire and hearts of gold with those who deserve or have earned the right to be near it.  There are so many broken hearts around me at the moment and I can only do so much to support them.  Instead, you need to recognise that yes, your heart has been broken and feelings are scary things to share with people.  So take your time.  Spend as much of what you are willing to put in, to find out whether those people who are curious about your heart are worthy enough to see it in its fullness.  Just because we come across people who mistreat us, who don't know how to handle our golden hearts and set out to douse the blazing fires in our hearts, we just need to know that we still need to be part of the way of this world, that our flames help to combat the coldness, because that's the way of the world. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
