I keep my dirt on the surface so you don't gotta dig
The people didn't make me nervous, tried to hide all their sins
And I've got no reason to hide my tracks
The best of learning is just loving where you're at
If you are truly self reflective, you are completely honest about what it is that you do, who you are, and where you are heading. Do you keep your dirt on the surface? Being able to be upfront in any given situation takes bravery and real self belief - to wonder whether you are able to withstand judgement from those whose opinions you believe matter. Before others are even able to dig, what are you able to dig up about yourself? Now might be the time to consider whether your sins are worth hiding. Even when you disclose what your dirt is, you will have to figure out whether they can be trusted. So trust yourself to know what the best options are for you. Who knows your tracks better than you do? Unless they have walked in your shoes, they have no business negating your own experiences.
So love where you're at, yeah love where you're at
And keep your dirt on the surface and just love where you're at
How do you begin to love where you're at? You need to want to love where you're at. Do you understand what we need to do in order to feel the love? When we are in toxic environments, it may be hard to see the wood for the trees, the trees for the forest. We may never really know how toxic these environments are until we are able to fully step back and see what is happening from the outside. Learn to know the signs, learn how to recognise and read the signs. Who can you rely on to help talk you through issues that you are facing? Are there people who surround you that are able to help you arrive at your destination? Even though you might not know the exact place. you will know how it feels when you finally arrive.
I wear my sins on my collar so everyone can see
And there ain't no bother in spreading rumours about me
I ain't no angel, but I ain't so bad
And the best part of learning is just loving where you're at
Do you wear your sins on your collar so everybody can see? It might make things easier wouldn't it? But who cares what their opinions are of you - especially if they have their own crosses to bear. You're probably trying to get through situations where people are conveniently placing judgements on you when they they are transferring or projecting their own insecurities onto you. So how do you deal with it? If people persist in spreading rumours to you, rather than being 'straight up' to your face, then they aren't really straight up people are they? If people choose to convey messages to you but then do not disclose who those people are - then should you pay attention? Probably not.
So love where you're at, yeah love where you're at
And keep your dirt on the surface and just love where you're at
So love where you're at, yeah love where you're at
And keep your dirt on the surface and just love where you're at
So love where you're at, yeah love where you're at
And keep your dirt on the surface and just love where you're at
So love where you're at, yeah love where you're at
And keep your dirt on the surface and just love where you're at
