Break my soul. . .

I'm 'bout to explode, take off this load
Bend it, bust it open, won't ya make it go?
Yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka
Yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka (release ya wiggle)
Yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka
Yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka, yaka (release ya wiggle)
Ah - la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

We celebrated Matariki, the Māori New Year, for the first time as a nation in Aotearoa New Zealand with a public holiday. It is a time of reflection and recognising past achievements, where you are in the present and where you hope to be in the future. All of the dead weight from the previous year, should be let go. Where do you find yourself today? Are you truly reflecting on yourself and how you can contribute to the lives of others? Being a constellation means you have a place in the night sky, you are recognisable in the heavens and humans will want to search for you and find reassurance that they know where they are, in relation to you. Do you shine bright in the sky for all to see?

You won't break my soul
You won't break my soul
You won't break my soul
You won't break my soul
I'm telling everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody

Such a catchy mantra and easy to dance to. What struck me most about this song is the way in which you can take aspects of it and really hone in on what it speaks to when you hear it. Beyonce takes you on a journey with her lyrics, prompting you to think about what you are feeling, and how you want to stand in the world. Are you willing to tell everybody? What if they aren't ready to receive you? What if you get misunderstood all the time. Sometimes people are intent on misunderstanding you because they just are. Others misunderstand you out of frustration, not being upfront in a moment when it presented itself. You are a work in progress. We are all works in progress. When one claims to be perfect, that's when things start to go downhill. There is no such thing as perfection. Only people's standards about what is acceptable in this realm unfortunately.

Now I just fell in love, I just quit my job
I'm gonna find new drive, damn, they work me so damn hard
Work by nine then off past five
And they work my nerves, that's why I cannot sleep at night

Working to a clock, to a schedule, to time is always challenging. Pressures associated with time is often because people push for things to be completed as they are under pressure from above. The higher you work up in climbing that corporate ladder, or that place that you are aspiring to reach where you can be seen as successful takes grit and determination. When do we know when to disconnect from things, make detachments so that our nerves can finally settle? If you are having trouble sleeping at night, how can we find ways to build towards the achievement of sleep? How can we create opportunities for peace of mind that only sleep can provide? Well, actually, it's probably more like being able to succumb to sleep without worry. Learning to love yourself should be the mission to start with.

Motivation
I'm looking for a new foundation, yeah
And I'm on that new vibration
I'm building my own foundations, yeah
Hold up, oh baby, baby

Motivation. Do you struggle with self-motivation? How do I define motivation? What gets me moving. The easiest way to explain it. Who makes you move? What moves you? Where do you move to? Why do you move? A new foundation means that you are committed to laying what will be your base, so in actual fact, if you can articulate yourself well enough, you don't need to tell everybody - they will be able to see and hear it in all that you do. Are you on any new vibration? If you are in tune with your energy, you will be able to figure out when to conserve your energy around others, when to invest your energy in others, and when to hibernate within yourself. Keep doing the work that moves you. Remember who you are and keep moving others.

Release ya anger, release ya mind
Release ya job, release the time
Release ya trade, release the stress
Release the love, forget the rest

Keep finding ways to release. Letting go of anger is hard when you refuse to acknowledge that the other person is not to blame. When you are angry at someone, it usually is because they have said or done something that has hurt your feelings. How you choose to express that anger is up to you. How do you let go of your mind? There might be too many thoughts in there that do you no favours, serve you no purpose and keep you second guessing who you are. Keep your eyes focused on the outpouring of love from within yourself and out to others. We should never expect or wait for love from those who refuse to give it. Instead you continue to release the love and show love in the face of adversity,

I'm a let down my hair 'cause I lost my mind
Bee is back and I'm sleeping real good at night
The queen's in front and Dom's at the back
Ain't taking no flicks but the whole clique snapped
There's a whole lot of people in the house
Trying to smoke with your 'gnac in your mouth
(Good at night) and we back outside
You said you outside, but you ain't that outside
Worldwide hoodie with the mask outside
In case you forgot how we act outside

Losing your mind can sometimes be the only way to go. Just when you think you are completely sure of yourself, you can lose what you think you know. Losing this can cone in the form of different things, so people might be able to recognise it - or not. How can we move through what we need to when we ignore the signs? How can you maintain your sense of equilibrium when forces beyond your control are intent on testing you beyond your limits. Make sure you take the time to look outside. What things are you seeing about yourself that are new areas for learning and growth? Remind people how you act outside, how you all collectively want to act outside. But I guess that can't really happen unless you've checked yourself.

You don't seek it, you won't see it
That, we all know (can't break my soul)
If you don't think it, you won't be it
That love ain't yours (can't break my soul)
Trying to fake it, never makes it
That we all know (can't break my soul)
You can have the stress and not take less
I'll justify love

There will be times in your life when you will struggle to search for meaning. You won't be able to see a way out of your predicaments or situations. There will not seem to be a way out. Our thoughts do have a lot to do with how we see ourselves and how we interact with others. What do you want to become? Trying to be authentic in a fake world can be hard when you can't see who is being genuine or you don't know what is actually real. How will you know when you have made it? When external influences threaten to overwhelm or consume you, keep breathing. Keep thinking about yourself and what you need to do to for yourself. It may be hard when others expect you to maintain being who you have been to them since like, well, forever. But times change. People change. You've changed.

We go 'round in circles, 'round in circles
Searching for love ('round in circles)
We go up and down, lost and found
Searching for love
Looking for something that lives inside me
Looking for something that lives inside me

Sometimes we do need to go round and round in circles to know for sure where the heck you are. Why do we keep searching externally for matters that can only be dealt with internally? Searching for love within yourself is meant to be hard. Why? Because it takes a really strong person to be critically self-reflective, to not think too much about judgement, but rather discernment about you knowing the difference. Does love live inside you? Maybe it's time to see how much of that love you keep giving so freely to others - whether by obligation or choice, could be better redirected back to yourself. It's a novel idea, I know. But once you start to experience and learn about your exponential growth in your own potential - it will no longer be able to be contained within yourself. It is your duty to share with others.

I'm taking my new salvation
And I'ma build my own foundation
Got motivation (motivation)
I done found me a new foundation, yeah (new foundation)
I'm taking my new salvation (new salvation)
And I'ma build my own foundation, yeah (my own foundation)

Save yourself. In a world where we expect to be saved by others, new salvation needs to come from you. Your greatest motivation in life should be you. If you can't figure out who you are and what you need to do to serve your divine purpose - the legacy you leave behind and what your significant contribution will be to the world. How will you make the world a better place than when you first entered it? Keep searching and researching yourself. You are meant to be the sole expert of yourself. Just remember that whatever or whoever life throws at you, to keep your soul moving, because in time people will come to know, nothing and nobody can break my soul. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
