Smash into you. . . .

Head down as I watch my feet take turns hitting the ground Eyes shut, I find myself in love racing the earth  And I'm soaked in your love aah And love was right in my path, in my grasp And me and you belong Do you know whose love you want to be soaked in?  You might not know where you stand in certain situations and you wonder, what is the point?  There will come a time when you realise you've been talking in circles, you spend far too much time thinking you're being there, you're doing all the right things, but it will all be in vain.  How long do you think it takes before someone is able to tell you whether they are capable of expressing healthy outputs of love?  I don't know how close you were to have it in your path or in your grasp if you're having trouble trying to recognise it.  And besides, do we ever really belong with people?  You shouldn't let someone try to take control of how your heart should love.  Just because they're the lou...

Only love can hurt like this. . .

I'd tell myself you don't mean a thing But what we got, got no hold on me? But when you're not there I crumble I tell myself that I don't care that much  But I feel like I'm dying till I feel your touch The thing with love is that it sneaks up on you when you least expect it.  Love can be a slow burn or fast combustion (self-inflicted or otherwise!).  Have you ever experienced a love that tries to tell you that it isn't, so much denial from the source, from your own mind, but there is a depth to a relationship that you don't know how to deal with - so you're stuck in some kind of limbo until you realise what your next appropriate move should be?  When can you tell yourself that you have stopped caring, or noticed that they have stopped caring about you?  The thing is, pride gets in the way, ego comes out to play, so you never really know what feelings truly are in place.  I mean, do you even really want to know that love isn't there?  Are you r...

Arithmetic. . . .

Song blogpost requested by Tee Cee Toomata :-) I've been staring at the sky tonight Marveling and passing time Wondering what to do with daylight Until I can make you mine You are the one I want, you are the one I want I haven't had much of a chance to stare up at the sky lately.  But tonight I did catch the shepherd's delight with the beautiful clouds and its coconut marshmallow icecream hues.  At the worst of times, I feel like I am passing time, waiting for the next stage of my life to begin.  My daylight hours are filled with the demands of daily life that are not my own, but those of others.  The life of service is a tough one, especially when you do these things alone with little time for your own wellbeing, to nurture yourself and ensure that you can connect with people who care about you too.  People who take time out of their own day to touch base and ask how you are.  Who is the one you want? I've been thinking of changing my mind It ne...

You're as right as rain. . .

You're as right as rain Mellow as a shower on a summer's day You're as right as rain Softer than a flower, sweet as marmalade You're made that way Why do people insist on seeing your softness when you're trying to be tough? I guess people see it as some kind of challenge where they want to pull you apart so that they can see what makes you tick.  You might have lost count the number of times that people have put you through the wringer hoping to bring you to your knees and try to break you.  There is something tender and beautiful about being able to be mellow, be refreshing in some sense, where you are a welcome addition to anybody's any given day.  Has anybody seen you made that way? Who has been lucky enough to get close to you?  You should never allow your vulnerability to shine through unless you're deliberately trying to build your resilience or your intentions are to put others before yourself. Every man has a secret dream Quiet thoughts tra...

Out here on my own. . .

Sometimes I wonder where I've been Who I am Do I fit in Make believin' is hard alone Out here on my own When you find it hard to figure out who you are and where you fit in, the likely cause is that you probably don't know who you are because you're busy being all things to all people, and then this is further compounded by you not knowing how to fit in.  Where have you been in your own life?  Consider how much you have grown over the past five years.  Depending on how old you are, how you measure this growth is something that connects solely to you.  We get seduced by this idea of success and what society says it looks like.  Why should we believe any of it?  Why should those markers be what sets our standards?  Maybe being alone is exactly what you need to do to gain clarity. We're always provin' who we are Always reachin' for that risin' star To guide me far And shine me home Out here on my own The more you succeed, you can often find y...

I look to you. . .

As I lay me down  Heaven hear me now I'm lost without a cause After giving it my all It can be easy to feel like there is no way out of a situation that you find yourself in.  You can put so much of yourself into something, give it your all, and then doubt whether you have really made an impression at all. You start to question whether you have made an impact.  We may think that our prayers are never heard, never answered, never touch who we want them to.  It is important to embrace these feelings and master these types of emotions, especially the negative ones that threaten to steal your joy.  We should never feel like we are lost without a cause - because this means we are not honouring our purpose or divine mission that we were all uniquely born to fulfill. Winter storms have come And darkened my sun After all that I've been through Who on earth can I turn to  It may start to feel like life just doesn't want to cut you a break. It can be real...

I keep. . .

Some of them  Wanna break you down Steal your crown Use and abuse you It's been a while since my last blog post and that's because life can get on top of you when you're not looking.  The last time I wrote a blog post, I wasn't about to finish up at my current job and preparing to move on to the next new challenge.  I wasn't intending to leave but sometimes life throws you opportunities that you can't pass up.  You need to know when it is time to move on because your patience will run out or you do.  How have you been dealing when people try to break you down?  You can only stand enough abuse before you realise that you no longer need to sit at that table anymore. Some of them  Smile in your face 'Cause they heard it someplace You got more than they're used to How many smiling assassins do you know?  Would you rather someone was nasty to your face or behind your back?  The more you are willing to be real with yourself and confront...
