Take me to the king. . .

It's my offering. . .  Take me to the king I don't have much to bring My heart is torn in pieces It's my offering Take me to the king When you go to visit someone, there are unspoken rules of visitor etiquette that you might follow.  These rules might be based on your cultural upbringing or just an agreed set of practices that you and your visitors are familiar with and interact quite naturally.  Are you aware of how much of an offering you are meant to take? Do you consider whether your gift is appropriate for the occasion, whether it will bring joy to the host, if it is a gift that signifies something that you discussed in previous visits and is something that you agreed to bring in the next visit.  The purpose of your visit may have a bearing on the type of gift or offering that you bring too.  So what offering with you take to the king?  Bringing yourself and giving all of you might be the most precious gift of all.  Being present in His p...

God provides. . .

There's no more need to fight. . .  God provides, so why do I worry about my life When you come to my rescue a thousand times Every other voice it is a lie God provides It is easy to worry about your life.  It's what humans are built to do. We worry about so many things.  What people think of us.  How we act towards said people.  We worry about things that we cannot control, things we cannot hold.  We spend far too much time worrying about things that we shouldn't be worrying about.  When we think that nothing can come from anything, that's when God provides, above all else.  How many times have you been rescued?  Did you ask to be rescued?  Did you ask to be placed in those situations that required God to step in and save you?  Maybe yes.  Maybe no.  But one thing that I've come to know is that God has never lead me to a place that I couldn't get through, that I couldn't understand why I was lead there, that I di...

Everybody's changing. . .

And I don't feel the same. . .  You say you wander your own land But when I think about it I don't see how you can Why do we question where people wander? Do we do this because we feel restricted about where we are in our lives so it's easier to tell someone else how they can live their lives?  Especially if they choose to wander?  You would have to know whether where they choose to wander is in their own land.  Who gets to say anything about ownership anyway?  Indigenous people will tell you that they do not own land, but are rather, the keepers of protecting said land, that they are carriers of the knowledge of that land, everything associated with it that entails us being guardians to look after it and ensure that it continues life into the next generation.  How can we so easily see, question and doubt others, but are so unwilling to see our own reflections in the mirror?  It is very easy to be a critic if you are not a creator. You're ach...

Don't stop til you get enough. . .

Keep on with the force don't stop. . .  Lovely is the feeling now Fever temperatures rising now Power ah power is the force the vow That makes it happen It asks no questions why ooh So get closer closer now To my body now Just love me Till you don't know how ooh I grew up on this song. Granted I was only two years old when it was released but it is one of the few songs that has traveled with me throughout my life.  There are quite a few memories wrapped up in this song and the nostalgia has been a faithful friend when people have come and gone from my life - whether they wanted to leave or not.  I think this is the power of music and the force that it can have in your life.  What are some of the lovely feelings that you continue to hold onto in your own life? Whether we chose to learn about dance music in clubs or events that played dance music, you can't go past the idea of feeling good and expressing yourself freely through dance.  I think this ...

Change. . .

Don't you know the future's for the brave? . . .  Everybody's worried 'bout the world going crazy But nobody wants to do a thing about it lately Burning dreams like money in your pocket And the street lights are keeping you awake Everybody's worried 'bout the world going crazy Where do we go from here if we can't love each other? It's pretty hard to know where you stand in the world if you don't know where the world stands. We can think that we can't do anything to change what is happening in the world.  If we are lead by leaders that we cannot trust or have zero confidence in.  If we are being told what to do by people who have no idea about who we are as people and don't really know a thing about us.  What do you think you can do to make a difference?  Why do you think the world is going crazy?  Are all of these things happening around us because we don't have a chance to participate in them, or is it happening because we hav...

I come in pieces. . .

Here I am, Just as I am . . .  If these walls could talk They would sing the saddest songs If this clock could stop I'd jump in time to when the hurt is gone I've had my share of come downs and heartbreaks And I've made a bed of mistakes Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or a disturbing experience. In medical terms trauma is also defined as a physical injury. Somehow I think the two are connected, because sometimes the deeply distressing or disturbing experience, if you're not careful, can manifest itself into a physical injury. There have been a few friends around me who have experienced some deeply distressing or disturbing experiences.  Everyone has their own threshold for trauma too, because let's face it, there is no competition about who suffers more, it's actually about how much one person is able to maintain their sense of self while they go through these experiences.  What would you do to escape the hurt or pain you are going throug...

Have you ever seen the rain? . . .

Comin' down on a sunny day. . .  Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know it's been comin for some time When it's over so they say It'll rain a sunny day I know shinin' down like water Learning to be prepared for any given event is something that you should be able to do. I've recently discovered this amazing artist named Josh Tatofi.  I think the reason why I love his voice so much is because he sounds like my late husband.  The same smooth vocal line, the effortless way in which he dances along the melody line and does his own background harmonies reminds me so much of Loma's insistence on perfection when it came to singing, as much as he joked around about just singing for fun.  I love the arrangement of the song - it's fresh, easy going and laidback and it's something you can easily bob your head along to in the car or wherever you seem to be travelling to or from. I want to know Have you ever seen the rai...

Hills and valleys. . .

No matter where I am, I'm standing in Your love. . .  I've walked among the shadows  You wiped my tears away And I've felt the pain of heartbreak And I've seen brighter days And I've prayed prayers to heaven from my lowest place And I have held the blessings God, you give and you take away It is difficult to believe that bad things happen in this world, but they do. We can get distracted by not remembering how to be during those difficult times but when we come across heartbreak, and walk in shadows, it can be easy to sink into those dark spaces and never surface again.  How many times have you visited those lowest places?  If you become accustomed to walking in shadows, you soon become used to the cold and chill of those shadows and become immune to never feeling warmth in your steps again the longer you proceed.  How much longer will you hold the blessings that you will soon take for granted?  When we are given things, do we treat them nicely ...
