Have you ever seen the rain? . . .

Comin' down on a sunny day. . .

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water

Learning to be prepared for any given event is something that you should be able to do.
I've recently discovered this amazing artist named Josh Tatofi.  I think the reason why I love his voice so much is because he sounds like my late husband.  The same smooth vocal line, the effortless way in which he dances along the melody line and does his own background harmonies reminds me so much of Loma's insistence on perfection when it came to singing, as much as he joked around about just singing for fun.  I love the arrangement of the song - it's fresh, easy going and laidback and it's something you can easily bob your head along to in the car or wherever you seem to be travelling to or from.

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Comin' down on a sunny day

I am have been taking the time lately to appreciate the little things in life.
Rain is one of them.
Granted we haven't had much rain, but the rain we have had has been comforting to hear as it beats against the roof of the house.  I don't know about you but when I hear sounds as distinctive as rain on the roof, it instantly reminds me of other times that I have heard rain and I get transported again to those times and I feel what I was feeling during those times.  It's a great ability to be able to have, to be able to tap into conscious memories that you can relive again in your mind's eye.  There is scientific evidence that proves when you remember a moment, your brain cells act in exactly the same way as when the original memory was being captured - you actually relive that moment.  I couldn't help wonder from a darker perspective this was why women who have been victims of domestic violence can't get out of their situations, not because they don't know that they are victims,  but that if a memory is triggered, they would relive the memory as strongly as if it was happening all over again.

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know been that way for all my time
'Til forever on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow
But I know, it can't stop it I wonder

Can we stop events from happening that we don't want to happen?
It totally depends doesn't it?  We can hope or wish for things that are beyond our control.  We can cry, worry and stress about it.  Or we can just acknowledge that we are watching a car crash in slow motion that we have no power to stop, but try to, within out own power, minimise as much of the damage as possible.  Are there things happening in your life that been happening that way for all time?  We have to remember that just because something isn't going your way, that it doesn't mean things won't eventually go your way.  The best thing you can do for yourself is just know that in times, all things pass, all things eventually come to an end.  The question to ask yourself is - where will you be when it all eventually ends?  Where will you be when you have the bearings to know when to get off the ride?

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Comin' down on a sunny day

I hope that whatever happens to you, your loved ones and people that are either placed in your life for reasons or seasons, that you recognise that you are important.  You have special abilities, gifts and talents that are envied by all, hated by few.  We should no longer be living our lives in fear, in darkness and in constant vigilance about what might or cannot be.  There is enough regret, enough bad luck, enough ill will that might be swirling around you, that might threaten to overwhelm you like some tidal wave if you're not careful.  The most important thing you can do for yourself right now is to take note of the small, seemingly insignificant things that you would otherwise miss because you've forgotten how truly beautiful the world is, when there are others who are intent on you not being able to enjoy life's little joys, and life's pure simplicities.  Because this rain that you're wishing would go away right now, is something you should simply feel and enjoy hitting you in the face.  It's the very same rain that sooner or later, will be comin' down on a sunny day. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
