It's my offering. . .
Take me to the king
I don't have much to bring
My heart is torn in pieces
It's my offering
Take me to the king
When you go to visit someone, there are unspoken rules of visitor etiquette that you might follow. These rules might be based on your cultural upbringing or just an agreed set of practices that you and your visitors are familiar with and interact quite naturally. Are you aware of how much of an offering you are meant to take? Do you consider whether your gift is appropriate for the occasion, whether it will bring joy to the host, if it is a gift that signifies something that you discussed in previous visits and is something that you agreed to bring in the next visit. The purpose of your visit may have a bearing on the type of gift or offering that you bring too. So what offering with you take to the king? Bringing yourself and giving all of you might be the most precious gift of all. Being present in His presence.
Truth is I'm tired
Options are few
I'm trying to pray
But where are you?
I'm all churched out
Hurt and abused
I can't fake
What's left to do?
What are you tired of?
Jesus talked a lot about the troubled and the weary, if you need to rest to come to Him.
We may find it difficult to pray when we lose our faith. Whether we lose our faith in situations or people, there is a significant sense of loss and grief in that moment. People always talk about how everyone has issues and problems, and that is true. Life is no competition to see who suffers the most. Suffering is suffering, no matter which way you look at it. You may have heard people say, well it's how you respond to your suffering, and that's pretty much it. What is physically possible for you to change about that suffering? Can it be diminished? Can it be wiped away?
Truth is I'm weak
No strength to fight
No tears to cry
Even if I tried
But still my soul
Refuses to die
One touch will change my life
What do you refuse to do?
Are you able to push through whatever obstacles you face?
Sometimes when we lose the strength to fight, it may be because we should no longer be resisting, but instead giving in to the lesson that needs to be learned. When we have no tears left to cry, it may be because crying is only useful for a short time before you have to pick yourself up and find releases in other ways that will get you moving faster. Our souls are the most important parts of us. We find that people will try to destroy it along the way so we must be prepared to protect it. We must never let our souls die. They are meant to live and endure, to be of use and in service to others, even when we are struggling ourselves. It's what we can do to help bring positive change to others in need.
Lay me at the throne
Leave me there alone
To gaze upon Your glory
And sing to you this song
Please take me to the king
There is something to be said about being in quiet solitude.
The nearness of being close to the throne allows you to see what else there needs to be in your life.
There might not be anything on earth that will ever come as close as giving glory and honour to the creator. What songs of praise do you have? We can so often praise or worship earthly that have no business being revered. What priorities are you putting in place to ensure that you live your best life?
Truth is it's time
To stop playing these games
We need a word
For the people's pain
If you are surrounded by people who continue to play games, be aware of the rules.
When people think they have beat you, they might have realised that you had no intention of playing. Instead you were going through the motions, allowing everyone else's issues to cloud your own. There is no such thing as a word that could bring absolute meaning to anything that you could be going through. There is nothing that anybody can do unless they are really willing to do so. Have you ever wondered why you are able to easily complete other tasks, but can be completely flummoxed by others? What motivation do you have?
So Lord speak right now
Let it fall like rain
We're desperate
We're chasing after you
If the Lord's words were to fall like rain, they would be a welcome deluge from the drought of despair. We take drastic actions for desperate measures. Why do you chase what you think is important? What benefit will come from chasing things we cannot control? We learn too late what is required for us to be where we need to be. I can tell you that you will the clearest clarity when you are at the lowest ebb. Think about that quite carefully. There is no greater perspective than seeing where you are at your lowest point. When people ask you if you are ok - how do you respond? We always respond with w hat we think people are only able to handle. You have an innate sense of not wanting to being a burden to others, to not add to their own suffering. But we forget that a burden shared is a load halved. It may not solve the problem, but it helps to have supportive friends who are there.
No rules, no religion
I've made my decision
To run to you
The healer that I need
I have had friends share some of their deepest and darkest moments with me.
It always feels special to know that you can hear what they are going through and just to be still.
Often when they share their stories, they wonder why the same things keep happening or why the people they thought they could rely on, fall through. I remind them that sometimes we rely too much on people who aren't equipped to deal with their pain. Who is a healer in your circle? If you share problems with people who make it about themselves and don't know how to be a supportive friend to you - then leave them well enough alone. You will soon come to see who the appropriate people are and sometimes that one person that you're looking to support you, isn't the one walking past your window but the one staring back at you in the mirror.
Lord we're in the way
We keep making mistakes
Glory is not for us
It's all for you
I hope that you start to believe in yourself more.
We don't need validation from people who don't validate us.
We just need to remember that once we also let go of our own ego, then we can truly focus on the goodness and light that we can bring into this world so that we can be who we were meant to be. When we excel (more than achieve, it feels like such a weak word to me) in areas that people never thought we could be leaders of, that people never thought we could be responsible for changing because we have the vision and creativity that they are trying to squash - then we must continue to speak up. We should no longer worry about the persecution that we suffer, or the wounds that we have to lick in order to heal, because once we know that the glory is not for us, that it's all for Him, only then will we be able see that, it's my offering. . .
