Change. . .

Don't you know the future's for the brave? . . .

Everybody's worried 'bout the world going crazy
But nobody wants to do a thing about it lately
Burning dreams like money in your pocket
And the street lights are keeping you awake
Everybody's worried 'bout the world going crazy
Where do we go from here if we can't love each other?

It's pretty hard to know where you stand in the world if you don't know where the world stands.
We can think that we can't do anything to change what is happening in the world.  If we are lead by leaders that we cannot trust or have zero confidence in.  If we are being told what to do by people who have no idea about who we are as people and don't really know a thing about us.  What do you think you can do to make a difference?  Why do you think the world is going crazy?  Are all of these things happening around us because we don't have a chance to participate in them, or is it happening because we have had a part in it and now it's all turned to custard?  We think about change often enough.  I just don't think we have the courage to truly change what we need to.  It starts with us.

I know these days everybody's ready for a change
Unbreak these chains
Don't you know the future's for the brave, brave?
Everybody's ready for a change, change

What change would you like to see?
We might not even know that we're trapped and that we need to be set free.
Sometimes those lemons that you've been dealt is actually teaching you to make some lemonade, and not just any ordinary lemonade.  It's probably the only special type of lemonade that only you can make.  Because up until now you've never really thought about what needed changing in your life.  You never really noticed how you are meant to feel about your own future.  We need to remember that the future isn't as far off as we are lead to believe.  There are so many unknown variables and unknown factors that we never really know change is coming, until it comes for us.

When we gonna break these walls between us?
Let a little light in so we can see love
Are we blinded by the same illusion?
Can we open up each other's eyes?
When we gonna break these walls in between us?
Where do we go from here, if we can't love each other?

What are the point of walls?  To keep people out, or keep people in - maybe it's a bit of both.
I guess it depends on who built the walls and what their intentions were.  I don't know how many walls I have encountered in my wall.  Depending on how motivated I was, or careful, I would quickly assess the wall and see if a quick or slow response was required.  What kind of approach was needed - because it also depended what side of the wall I was on - if I was on the inside, or on the outside.  Did I want to get away from the wall, or did I want to push through it?  Were the people that wanted to be separated by the walls even want to be reached?  Some of those times, I was the wall builder.  It's just easier to keep people on the outside when you need time to stay inside yourself.  I guess until you can love yourself enough, only then can you be strong enough to stand up and be seen, to take down the wall yourself.

Well you can't change nothing if you can't even change yourself, no, no
We build a stairway to heaven or a door to hell
We can't wait any longer no

I hope that you can change what needs to be changed to live your best life.
The best version of yourself is something that you shouldn't need to strive for, unless it's really what you want.  People say the phrases often enough, but to truly live by them, that takes a lot of time, effort, strength and commitment to actually attain.  Are you building your stairway to heave or a door to hell?  Where are you in your life at the moment?  You don't need to answer that.  You don't need to compare yourself to others about where they are on their life journey - that's their journey, not yours.
I hope that whatever changes are in store, that you are prepared for it,  This past month I have heard "hope for the best, prepare for the worst".  We never know what life will dish up, and we never know who will eat at our table of life.  But I know that we can't get far without love.  Where do we go from here, if we can't love each other?. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
