This is for someone right now. . .
It's not over, it's not finished
It's not ending, it's only the beginning
When God is in it, all things are new
All things are new
I know it's darkest just before dawn
This might be the hardest season you experience
I know it hurts, it won't be too long
You're closer than you think you are
You're closer than you've been before
Look to the sky, help is on the way
It's not over, it's not finished
It's not ending, it's only the beginning
When God is in it all things are new
All things are new
Have you come to situations where you have felt like you had no way to go but to give up? When we look at situations with our human eyes, we don't have the eyes to see when there are other alternatives or pathways that we have yet to be explored. We forget that we don't have the ability to see beyond what is right in front of us, particularly when we are in constant states of panic or we don't know how to deal with stress. It is always easy to see what's wrong with a situation, rather than search for what you can actually work with. We limit ourselves based on past experiences, which may inevitably lead us to make the same mistakes. We focus on the darkness that we find ourselves in but haven't yet learned to search for the light, however small, to illuminate our way. How many times have you thought that something had ended, only to have another window of opportunity open to allow for new beginnings?
Something is moving, turning around
Seasons are changing, everything is different now
Here comes the sun, piercing the clouds
You're closer than you think you are
You're closer than you've been before
Look to the sky, help is on the way
Our God is faithful (faithful to say)
It's not over, it's not finished
It's not ending, it's only the beginning
It's not over, it's not finished
It's not ending, it's only the beginning
When God is in it
When God is in it
You can always sense when change is in the air and something is moving, things are starting to turn around when hope appears in shimmers and glimmers on your doorstep. It is easy to think that when bad times seem to be the constant vibe in your life, that you lose all sense of hope in better days coming. You need to be able to prepare for the good that is to come because it is easy to stay locked in the funky state of no return, that pit of despair that is intent on keeping you stuck with no way out, stuck in negative thoughts and settling for failure. I have seen too many people give up on themselves before the finish line. They didn't realise how close they were until they took a step back, gained some well-needed clarity and were able to see how close they were to achieving their goals, but they lacked the grit to sustain their energy for that last final push.
When God is in it, there is no limit
When God is in it, it's not over
It's not over
When God is in it, there is no limit
When God is in it, it's not over
When God is in it, there is no limit
When God is in it, it's not over
I think we should focus more on pushing our limits. We give up too easily. We let go of things that we should hold onto for just a little bit longer because if we don't, we might never have a chance. We lose faith in ourselves too quickly when we stumble often and get tired of picking ourselves up. We should be thinking that when we fall down and we can actually get up, continue to get up and just keep moving. I don't know how many times I have given up in my head and then manage to shake myself free from those chains that threatened to keep me enslaved to my own doubts and fears. I have learned and continue to learn to place my faith in the higher power who gives me all of the gifts and talents that I am meant to share with everyone I come into contact with. The challenge always lies in the fact that you will have to share them with people who might potentially take advantage or misuse your work for their own benefit.
It's not over til God says so
So I count it all joy
You make things all new
It's not over, til God says so
So I count it all joy
It's not over, it's not over
I hope that whatever losses you have in your life, that you either make peace with it or you figure out a way to pick yourself up and carry on. We will lose people in this life, but we must never forget to honour their memories, keep their legacy alive and continue to surround ourselves with people from time to time who love them as much as we did. I only heard this song last night when a fellow PhD friend shared the song that her family is performing at a family service tonight. The song made me think about a friend who lost his brother to cancer at the beginning of the month. It also made me think about my recent reconnection with an old friend of my late husband. I had the opportunity to meet his lovely wife and she never had the chance to meet Loma, so didn't really know him. But all she knew was how much her husband missed his friend. To my knowledge, he has been probably only the third friend since Loma passed away who has reached out and asked to connect to reminisce and talk about how much he misses his friend. The living must remember that even though they have died, we must continue to live, to show that even through difficult and challenging times of loss, when we can be strong and know that when God is in it, then there are no limits. Only then will we truly believe that if we count our joys then with that hope, we know that it's not over. . .
