Imagine me. . .

Imagine me
Loving what I see when the mirror looks at me 'cause I
Imagine me
In a place of no insecurities
And I'm finally happy 'cause
I imagine me

We can easily lose sight of our own imagination for ourselves when we are lead to believe the worst in us.  Have you hated looking at yourself in the mirror?  You might be confused about the goodness that lives within you because people are so intent on having you believe that you are not worthy of His love because you don't live up to the expectations of what you should be doing for others.  You might not recognise who you are when you look in the mirror because you start to believe all of what people say.  Do you remember what it feels like to listen to your own voice within?  You don't need the reassurance of others to know what you are good at, to know what you have done for others who have appreciated you.  You can choose to be happy today, in any given moment, if you desire.

Letting go of all the ones who hurt me
'Cause they never did deserve me
Can you imagine me?
Saying no to thoughts that try to control me
Remembering all you told me
Lord can you imagine me?
Over what my mama said
And healed from what my daddy did
And I wanna live and not read that page again

Why do you continue to hold onto those people who hurt you?  There might be a part of you that always wants to believe in others and how they are able to change, one day, because they should be able to see how much love and respect you give them - even when they continue to mistreat you.  Why do we torture ourselves and let negative thoughts control us?  Is it because we enjoy feeling sorry for ourselves?  We have become accustomed to being victims?  I think if we are able to look very closely at ourselves and see, really see, how others view us - how can we reconcile that with our own views?  God is probably the only being who can love you without judgement, is always there when you need Him, and never fails to prove how much He has loved you through all the ages, through all of your ages.

Imagine me, being free, trusting you totally, finally I can
Imagine me
I admit it was hard to see
You being in love with someone like me
But finally I can
Imagine me

I question why God loves me sometimes.  I think I can be an unlovable person because I don't do all of the things that I think He wants me to do.  The world sees what they want to see and whilst you might have a lot of fans, cheerleaders or groupies who see you as inspiration - you still aren't satisfied with your own work output, your own ability and capability and capacity to be at the optimum level of you that you expect for yourself.  A new year promises a new opportunity to be better than the previous year, but not just because of that surely, but just because you want to be the best version of yourself, the best that exceeds people's expectations - but more importantly - that you are able to serve God to your fullest extent.  This can be the only reason why He continues to love me when I fear that I have stopped loving myself.

Being strong
And not letting people break me down
You won't get that joy this time around
Can you imagine me
In a world (in a world) where nobody has to live afraid?
Because of your love, fear's gone away
Can you imagine me?

Every conversation doesn't need to be an argument.  Although, you might come across people who insist on being adversarial, people who insist on stealing your joy.  Why is it that when your enemies see you being happy, they believe that you've stolen their right to happiness?  It makes me laugh sometimes.  People forget that we can be limitless in our imaginations.  We have the power to do whatever we feel like with our own lives if we believe and act in ways that make sure we fulfil our goals.  Living in faith is really hard to do.  It takes a lot of practice and time to appreciate how difficult it is - but it's so totally worthwhile.  We should no longer be living in fear when we know how much God has got our back.  Even when we think we don't deserve His covering on our lives.

Letting go of my past
And glad I have another chance
And my heart will dance
'Cause I don't have to read that page again

Give yourself a chance this year.  Let go of things and people who serve no purpose in your life.  Learn to distinguish between what is good for you, what is meant for you - and how much of a light you are in the lives of others, even when you should pull away.  What will you use your other chance for?  What opportunities will you create for your heart to dance?  We should never read the same page again.  We should be onto new chapters in new books of our lives so that we can move forward so that we can understand what is required.  I am grateful for the pain of 2019, because it taught me to know what love will bring in 2020.  I am grateful for new joys and successes that are coming to me.  Are you ready for your own journey? I'm finally happy because I imagine me. . . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
