Wanna be happy?. . . .

The truth can hurt you
Or the truth can change you
What would truth do to you

Everyone has their own truth that they must face.  There is nothing that anybody else can do to help you face it if you are unwilling to face it head-on yourself.  Everyone might have an opinion on what you need to be able to do in order to face your new reality, but it is completely up to you.  Are you ready to look forward to a new year with changes that are to come?  You might not trust yourself completely to know how to move forward.  And that's completely natural to feel that way.  Think carefully about how you intend to move forward, despite people continuing to want to do you harm - whether they choose to belittle you if they are jealous of your gifts - you can't keep dimming your light to make the darkness shine.  Everyone knows that darkness doesn't have light, so stop feeling guilty for someone else's lack of truth.

I just wanna be happy
But if I keep on doing the things
That keep on bringing me pain
There's no one else I can blame
If I'm not happy
Wasted time but now I can see
The biggest enemy it was me
So I'm not happy

It is extremely difficult trying to break patterns of behaviour - particularly if they are ways of behaving that you seem to not be able to help.  Things might have happened to you in your childhood that determines how you act like an adult - and that's no excuse, but it does help to explain why you continue to make the same mistakes.  What bad habits are you unwilling to relinquish?  You can never really have the luxury of time to try and unpack your emotional intelligence, but I tell you, it is a worthwhile exercise to engage in if you really want to be able to understand yourself.  It is very easy to blame others for your actions, but the more that you come to understand that how you react to people and how they treat you - is actually the fundamental part of the problem - what are you prepared to do to ensure your own happiness?

Cry yourself to sleep
Shout and raise your hands
It won't change a thing child
Until you understand

I believe it is ok to cry yourself to sleep.  Sometimes a good cry, a really good solid cry is exactly what the doctor ordered.  How many times have you let things slide because people won't know how to handle your truth?  There is only so much you are able to take, and then when you come to think of it - is it something that you need to accept?  There is little that can happen when you are not willing to consider other people's viewpoints as well.  I don't know about you, but when you are not able to receive adequate explanations for why things are the way that they are - then you aren't really much further along than when you started.  Be brave.  Learn to know how to understand yourself.  Treat yourself with kindness, but at the same time, do not play into your own victimhood.

If you're tired of being the same
If you're tired of things not changing
It's time for you to get out the way
Don't get stuck in how you feel
Say Jesus take the wheel
He knows the road that you need to take
(But it only works if)
If you wanna be happy
(Look at yourself and say)
Don't you wanna be happy
I just wanna be happy

Rely on the happiness that is not of this world.  We can be easily fooled into thinking that people can give us happiness.  That objects can give us happiness.  None of these will suffice for very long.  People die, move away or leave you.  Things can disappear, erode and fade over time.  You will learn the hard way that you are solely responsible for your own personal happiness.  Be grateful for the gifts and talents that you have been given.  There is more to life than what you see with your very eyes.  There is so much to believe that you cannot see, that you can hope for if you are keen to know and trust in the unknown, in the roads that lay before you.  So if you don't know the road that you need to take, just keep your head up so that you are aware of the roads that come into view.  I am confident that unknown paths will always be revealed in due course.  You can never really know what is being prepared for you, for your own good, but just believe in the fact that they will come your way, if you wanna be happy. . .

To be loved by you. . .

To be loved by you is like a breeze Like the summer rain falling through the trees Like the waves that's crashing on the seas, it's easy To be loved by you is like a song Playing in your head you can dance along Like running away with the dawn, it's easy Like flowers bloom, Like my love for you It's been a long time between blog posts. So much has happened since I last reflected about life around me through music. If you have read my blog posts before, then you would know that you are meant to play the YouTube clip (see below) while you read.  I stumbled across this new song that was released today. It's Anzac Day in Aotearoa New Zealand so it's also an opportune time to reflect on the service of our countrymen for peace in previous wars. There is something oddly familiar and comforting about this melody, this song. The whole vibe drew me in and I've always been a huge Emily King fan. Are you currently with someone who helps you feel this way? What is it lik...

Masterpiece (Mona Lisa). . .

My eyes ain't used to these rays I'm feeling exposed but I hide no more I can't hide As the sun shines on all of my glory My flaws don't look so bad at all What was I so afraid of? No matter how hard you try to hide, or try to be inconspicuous, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Trying to be lowkey when you are on high profile horizons is ridiculous. When your skills, gifts and talents thrust you into the spotlight, you know that you have a responsibility to do your best at all times, because it is no longer about you - it is about who you represent. You might be afraid that your failures and trauma, including your human flaws will all be on display for the world to see - but who has not lived an imperfect life? Why are we afraid of being exposed? Society teaches us to conform and be uniform. Sometimes all we need to do is insist on being comfortable with all our decisions, no matter where they lead us or where we were placed - because our flaws aren't as...
